What causes breast pain and what can you do?

Breast pain (mastalgia) is a common thing. Approximately 70% of women will experience it at some point in their lives. And the pain in the breast is most severe medical problem for doctors and patients.

Begin your search for information from as much about the pain. When you decide to go to a doctor, would be very helpful if you could explain whether this pain keep you experience. Because it is often associated with hormonal changes or liquid storage at the time you’re menstruating or direct pressure on the nerves of the neck or chest.

Another factor that can cause disease in the breast is the birth control pills, hormone replacement therapy, weight gain, and BH is not in accordance with the breast. Women who experience pain in the breast after breastfeeding, it is advisable to speak to a doctor or consultant.

Some women feel sick because of water retention, and not related to menstrual periods. This observation led the researchers to find the cause of the environment or nutrition, but have not found clear answers. Maybe someday, we can find women who lack certain vitamins and is associated with diseases of the breast, but until now there is no evidence that there are vitamins that can be overcome. But many also say that their pain reduced by taking Vitamin B6, Vitamin B1, and Vitamin E.

The second hypothesis, called the “hypothesis methylxanthine” emphasizes that caffeine, a methylxanthine found in coffee, tea, cocoa, and cola may be associated with water retention, cell proliferation, and ultimately pain in the breast. (Methylxanthine also found in some asthma medications) Although this is a plausible mechanism, trials conducted to some of the women given caffeine or placebo tablets in random order, stating no link between caffeine to feel the pain in the breast.

Some women say that by wearing a good bra, like a sports bra, even at night to help reduce pain. There is also a reduced entry of sodium, reduced eating fatty foods, eat birth control pills, and weight loss.

A clinic in Cardiff, Wales, found that by using evening primrose oil (a natural form of gamolenic acid) can relieve pain around 44-58 percent of women who experience it. Evening primrose oil can be purchased at health food stores, each capsule contains 500mg. It is recommended to drink two times six capsules daily. Take a few moments before the impact of evening primrose oil can be felt, and it is recommended to do a trial period of four months. If after four months of reduced pain, continue the use of one to two months and beyond. This method is not recommended if you’re in the pregnancy because it can cause miscarriage.

Another option is medication over-the-counter pain. Normally, you are encouraged to talk to your doctor about prescription medications more effective, but also prone to side effects. Two drugs that are often used to cope with pain in the breast is Parlodel (bromocriptine) and Danocrine (danazol).

In a double-blind trial placebo-controlled randomized, Parlodel lowering prolactin levels and certainly effective in reducing pain in the breast that are repetitive. Side effects include dizziness, abdominal pain, headache, fatigue, vomiting, and constipation. You can reduce the likelihood of these side effects ranging from a low dose, then add a dose, and the end use of low doses of the most appropriate for you. Parlodel is not advisable to consume if you’re using birth control pills.

Treatment to cope with pain by using steroids, Danocrine, effective in reducing pain in the breast. Very effective at low doses, such as 100mg per day. The side effects are found in most women who consumed high doses (600-800mg/hari) is as increasing breast size, heavier sound, guttural, raspy throat, weight gain, bloating and swelling, sweating, vaginal dryness, burning, itching -itching, bleeding, depression, irritability, and changes in menstrual period. Danazol also can not be consumed if you’re using birth control pills, are pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Drug tamoxifen, a hormonal treatment for breast cancer, also proved effective in reducing pain in the breast. Dosage is 10mg/hari. Usually provided for experiments during three months, it is recommended to continue the use if the pain is still felt after stop taking taxomifen.
If not found a fundamental cause of pain in the breast, and if there is pain in certain areas of the breast, a local anesthetic injection can be done even with steroids, if necessary.

It is not easy to do research on pain in the breast, because the pain often goes away by itself. Many women experience pain very once in his life. Usually lasts for a few months ago reduced and just disappear. Therefore, the doctor will ask how long have you experienced these symptoms and will not prescribe pain medication until you have up to three months or more.

I experience pain, bleeding from the left breast and found a lump under the nipple. Is this a sign my breast cancer?

To stop the bleeding of the nipple is troubling, and this should you check with your doctor. But this is not really an emergency.
Rather than go to a doctor in the disease, you should visit a specialist breast. An expert in dealing with breast disease. Depending on the form of a lump, breast disease specialist can perform ductogram, procedures by which a substance is inserted through the tubes and x-ray done on these vessels. Ductogram allows the surgeon to recognize the part where the issue of blood vessels and to determine whether there are obstructive vessels. (Imagine if a rusty pipe inside and unobstructed. When the rust is off and out of the end of the pipe, the water that comes out looks cloudy). Ductogram should be done in breast imaging centers that have been experienced. In some cases, ductogram may be unnecessary. Especially there jka lumps, bumps and even a covered vessel.

Cessation of bleeding may occur because of intraductal papilloma or tumor vessels within the area where you feel a lump under your nipple. This is usually referred to as spontaneous bloody nipple discharge. Sometimes occurred that resulted in the dismissal of pre-cancerous conditions or ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). But this rarely happens. Only 4% of spontaneous bloody nipple discharge is found associated with breast cancer. However, it is important to check this is to see a doctor.

When you are pregnant, bloody nipple discharge do not need to worry about. Currently many of the growth of cells within the vessels and it is unusual to have bloody discharge. Also to be noted that smoking, hypertension, birth control pills, and tranquilizers can cause bleeding at the nipple because the things that stimulate prolactin, a hormone that affects the period of lactation. So if you smoke, drink a sedative, you must tell your doctor

Hormones are substances released into the bloodstream from a gland in the endocrine system which affects the activity of body cells that control organ functions as a whole (to control growth and development, sexual characteristics, affect the body in the use and storage of energy and controlling the volume of liquid, water and salt levels in the blood). Hormones in very small amounts can trigger the body’s response is very broad. Hormones serve as messengers to coordinate the activities of various organs of the body. Hormones circulating through the bloodstream and body to communicate with the entire body to regulate and maintain homeostasis (balance / stability) in the body via a feedback system that varies from internal biochemical balance of the body to deal with change

Decreased hormone levels in men and women with age. Lack of testosterone can result in the occurrence of erectile dysfunction. Premenstrual syndrome (PMS), menstrual cycle irregularities, Peri-menopause syndrome, etc. due to hormonal imbalance. When headaches during menstruation, may be a sign that hormones are not balanced anymore and hormones send the signal to the glands to try to overcome this (Excerpted from: maca, adaptogens & Hormonal Regulator, Beth M. Ley, Ph.D).

Hormone imbalance can be caused by internal factors (hormonal cycle, genetic disorders, the growth of tumors in the gland, age, etc.) and external (outside the entrance of hormones from the body, either intentionally, for example: the consumption of tablets / creams / injections of hormones, whether or not intentionally, for example: dietary deficiency, pesticide contamination, the modern animal husbandry products, plastic products, carpets, drug use steroid groups, the condition of stress, unhealthy lifestyle and so forth.
Hormonal imbalance will result in the emergence of a variety of health problems such as: menopause, testosterone deficiency in men, erectile dysfunction, lack fertility in men and women, thyroid gland disorders / mumps, hiperandrogen, including a number of problems around menstruation, and so forth.

SOME PROBLEMS RESULTING IN MENSTRUAL Imbalance HORMONE
Menstruation (period) / period / coming months is the bleeding that occurs repeatedly every month (except during pregnancy), occurs in the uterus of a woman because of the decay process of the uterine lining (endometrium). The menstrual cycle is a complex form of balance between body, mind and emotions. Regulated by hormones and the moon – your menstruation cycle can be a source of overall health (helping you to balance your body and emotions and act as a compass for your life) or the source of major discomfort and pain when the hormones that regulate menstrual function that in unequal conditions.

A number of menstrual disorders caused by hormonal imbalance include: premenstrual syndrome (PMS), menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea), irregular menstrual cycles, the volume (too much / little) and the duration (too long / short) abnormal bleeding and other forth.

Premenstrual syndrome ( PMS)
PMS is the physical symptoms, psychological (emotional) and behavior that often occurs in a woman’s menstrual cycle, ie 7 – 14 days before menstruation and will be lost as they start menstruating. PMS generally occurs in women age 14 – 50 years with various symptoms and changes in each woman from month to month. At least 85% of menstruating women experience at least 1 of PMS symptoms (American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist). There were identified 180 common symptoms of PMS which includes physical and psychological symptoms, but the most frequently reported are:

Physical symptoms

Psychic Symptoms and Behavior

    * Headaches / Migraine
* Breast pain / swollen / hard
* Tired / tired / lethargic (Fatigue)
* Disturbed sleep (Insomnia)
* Stomach cramps / bloating
* Diarrhea / constipation
* Headache
* Joint or muscle weakness / weak
* Backache
* Incurred acne
* Cramping of the bladder
* Swelling of legs and knees
* Limbs leg / knee to swell
* Weight loss rises
* Change of appetite, increased appetite (especially for sweet foods, salty) or decrease
* Easily hurt / anger, mood changes
* Crying a sudden
* Changes libido
* Concentration and memory decline
* Anxiety, depression, aggressive

Causes of PMS
The exact cause of this syndrome’s appearance is unclear, but hormonal factors in women who viewed the body most responsible for the occurrence of PMS. PMS is the result of defective ovulation process caused hormone imbalance. There are several theories about the cause of PMS, including:

    * Hormonal factors, namely the imbalance between the hormones estrogen and progesterone.
* Estrogen Dominant (excessive estrogen hormone) that apart from internal factors also could because xenoestrogen – estrogen that comes out of the body such as the modern farm products, pesticides, plastics, carpets, etc. (Dr. John R. Lee, MD).
* Another theory states that based on the research, the response due to the way PMS estrogen and progesterone (hormones of menstruation) interact with brain chemicals (serotonin)
* Genetic differences in sensitivity of receptors and messenger systems that deliver the sex hormone expenditure in the cell. Another possibility, is associated with disturbances feelings, psychological factors, social problems, or serotonin function experienced by patients.
* Dealing with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels are abnormal / Hypothyroid)
* Dealing with pituitary hormones, prostagalandin, and neurotransmitters in the brain
* Because of lack of intake of vitamin B, calcium and magnesium

Risk-enhancing factors PMS

    * Women who have given birth (PMS more weight after giving birth some children, especially if he has experienced a pregnancy with complications such as toksima)
* Marital status (married women have PMS more than that yet)
* Age (STDs more frequently and interfere with age, especially between the ages of 30 to 45 years)
* Stress
* Too much consumption of sugar, salt, coffee, tea, chocolate, soft drinks, dairy products and processed foods
* Lack of nutrients vitamin B (especially B6), vitamin E, vitamin C, magnesium, iron, zinc, manganese, linoleic fatty acids.
* The habit of smoking and drinking alcohol
* Lack of exercise and physical activity
* Obesity

Source: (Summary On the Net, Dr. Elvina Karyadi, MSc, Nutritionist Comunity, SEAMEO TROPMED UI)

PMDD (premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder)
Psychological symptoms of PMDD is a more extreme form of PMS, such as the deep sadness felt during PMS even get up the desire to commit suicide. PMDD occurs anywhere in the 3% – 9% of women. “This is a real biological condition in which women who experience it requires special treatment that is effective,”-Jean Endicott, PhD, Director of premenstrual Evaluation Section at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center

Source: (womenshealth.gov U.S. Dept of Health and Human Services, Office on Women’s Health)

Dysmenorrhea
Dysmenorrhea is pain / cramps that occur at 24 hours before the bleeding period and can be felt for 24 to 36 hours. Dysmenorrhea is divided into 2 types:

   1. Primary dysmenorrhea / Menstrual Pain Primer
The cause was uterine contractions because of increased hormone prostaglandin
2. Dysmenorrhea Skunder / Skunder Menstrual Pain
The cause is abnormalities such as endometriosis pregnancy, inflammatory disease in the pubic area cavities, inflammation of the fallopian tube, abnormal perlengketan between organs in the abdomen, the use of IUD

POLIMENORE
Hemorrhage Polimenore is roughly the same or more than normal volume of menstrual bleeding with menstrual cycle length is less than 21 days per cycle. The cause is a hormonal disorder causing interference with the process of ovulation or a shortened luteal phase of menstrual cycle, the dam of the ovary caused by the inflammation / infection, endometriosis

OLIGOMENORE
Bleeding volume Oligomenore is less than normal volume of menstrual bleeding with menstrual cycle length of more than 35 days per cycle.

Amenorrhea
Amenorrhea is the cessation of / no occurrence of menstrual bleeding, at least 3 months in a row with the menstrual cycle menstrual cycle extends from the classical (oligomenorea).

HIPERMENORE
Is the Hipermenore menstrual bleeding too much and lasted longer than normal (more than 8 days). The cause is a tumor of the uterus (uterine uteri), uterine contraction disorders, endometrial polyps uteri, disorders of the endometrium lining uteri release at the time of menstrual bleeding

HIPOMENORE
Is Hipomenore menstrual bleeding less than usual, but it does not interfere with fertilitasnya. The reason is hormonal endocrine disorders and disorders of the uterus

WOMEN fat more breast cancer risk than those who weighed a normal body. In breast cancer they are also faster growing. Thus the results of a study published in the journal National Cancer Institute, recently.

Researchers say this has nothing to do with a mammogram performed at least a fat woman.

According to Dr. Karla Kerlikowske, as reported by Reuters Health, even taking into account how many times they do a screening to detect breast cancer, obese women have a risk of breast cancer 10% higher. As for the possibility of developing the disease becomes more severe for 56 to 82 percent.

In addition researchers also confirmed that it was not because a mammogram is less accurate when performed in women with excess weight. “We can show that the detection of breast tumors can be done easily in those who are overweight.

So the increased risk of this disease is not because not detected by mammogram, “Kerlikowske said.

“It is noteworthy that women routinely perform mammography and keep your weight balanced, two things that can reduce their chance of breast cancer,” added Kerlikoswke, physician San Francisco VA Medical Center and professor of health, epidemiology, and biostatistics University of California, San Francisco.

Since 1996 until 2005, Kerlikoswke and mammography colleagues collected data on 287,115 women who had experienced menopause and hormone therapy. As many as 4446 of them were diagnosed with breast cancer one year after mammography tests.

Researchers found that the risk of these diseases higher on their obesity.

“The reason was probably due to circulating estrogen wanitas obesity rises, so can trigger tumor growth,” said Kerlikowske.

Fortunately, he added, this is a risk factor that can be controlled. How to maintain ideal weight and not consume postmenopausal hormones.

***
High Protein Food and Obesity

FOOD high in protein can help obese people burn more fat, so the results of a small study conducted Marijka Dr Batterham and colleagues from the University of Wollongong, New South Wales.

In this new study Australian scientists to test whether the composition of proteins in different foods affect weight.
They found that people who are overweight to burn more fat when they finished eating foods that contain high protein.

A number of studies have shown that high-protein diets can help people lose weight. Therefore, proteins are better able to suppress the desire to eat than fat or carbohydrates.

This study has not proved, but there is hope that the increased burning of fat can mean weight loss for a long time though. But to ensure it still needed further research.

The findings are published in the journal Nutrition & Dietetics is based on a study of 18 adults with metabolism after eating her tested for three different days. The participants’ average age was 40 years, 8 of them overweight, normal 6, and 4 obesity.

On one day they were given breakfast and lunch menus have been determined, consisting of 58 percent carbohydrates and 14 percent protein. At other times during the two days they made a balanced diet, consisting of one third of calories come from protein, and another third of the carbohydrates.

Eight hours after eating, researchers found that those who are overweight and obese burn less fat than thinner counterparts. However, this difference disappeared when they consume high-protein foods.

Protein-rich foods in question include the low butter fat, lean beef, eggs, combined with vegetables and a source of carbohydrates.

Batterham said he and his colleagues are now testing whether the source of vegetable protein has a similar effect on the metabolism of fat people who are overweight.

***
Weight Loss Cure Diabetes

New Study published in the journal American Health Association (American Medical Association) showed that weight-loss surgery can cure diabetes.

In this study, Australian researchers found that patients who undergo surgery to reduce the size of the stomach has a chance to recover from diabetes two years after the surgery five times higher than those who undergo the standard medical treatment.

“This is the best therapy for diabetes that we have today, and the risk is very low,” said study leader Dr John Dixon of Monash University Medical School in Melbourne, Australia.

Dixon and colleagues studied 60 men with a fat body mass index more than 30 but less than 40. Body mass index, or BMI, a ratio of height versus weight. BMI of 30 or greater is considered obese.

All of these patients had been diagnosed with obesity and type 2 diabetes during the last two years. Their ages average 47 years.
Half of patients undergoing abdominal surgery circumference, while the rest of the usual treatment.

Throughout the study, the research team to observe whether there is the possibility of weight loss through surgery can be an effective treatment for type 2 diabetes.

The result is known as much as 75% of patients who undergo surgery for abdominal circumference, diabetes disappear within two years after surgery. As to those who undergo normal treatment, only 13% are cured of diabetes.

In addition, those who undergo stomach surgery lose weight up to 20.7% after two years, far higher than the weight loss achieved by those undergoing normal treatment, only 1.7%.

“An important finding in this study is the level of weight loss, not the method, seems to be the prime mover and the loss of glycaemic improvement of diabetes in obese patients,” said Dixon.

“This has important implications, because it shows that intensive therapy weight loss may be the first step to more effective against diabetes than changes in simple lifestyle,” he said.

But Dixon says caution is needed in interpreting the long-term benefits of weight loss surgery. (suaramerdeka.com)

According do research on scientists in the United States proved that women are more susceptible to obesity
malignant ovarian cancer and the risk of death.
As previously known, obesity is increasing the risk of development of some types of cancer, but recent research reveals that fat tissue affects the development of tumors.
The scientists believe that fat cells produce hormones or proteins to make developing ovarian cancer more rapidly. Thus the results of a study published in the journal Cancer.
Malignant tumors

cancer_ovarium

“This is the first study to identify weight as a separate factor that makes a malignant ovarian cancer. There are certain elements of fatty tissue that causes the development of this disease in obese women,” said head of research, Dr. Andrew Li.
This research is based on 216 women suffering from epithelial ovarian cancer, ovarian cancers are most common, or about 90 percent of all cases.
This study compared 35 obese women with 108 women who had an ideal weight to see any significant difference in the appearance of cancer.
Apparently, obesity affects the body’s resistance. Those who are obese cancer cells could arise again after the treatment and the risk of death.
According Dr.Li next step after this study is to examine how fat affects the growth of tumors.
Ovarian cancer is the most common cause of death in women. Also commonly referred to as the silent killer because in the early phase there is no specific complaints (asymptomatic) so that new patients usually come in an advanced stage.
“The results of these studies are too small to test the number of patients so further research is needed to prove the link between obesity with the growth of cancer cells,” said Dr Laura-Jane Armstrong, of Cancer Research, UK.
While awaiting the results of further research, there is no harm in us keeping weight to reduce cancer risk.

The women need to maintain weight because of their excessive weight are at risk of ovarian cancer (ovarian) higher compared with women who are not obese (overweight).

Ovarian cancer is the most common cause of death of all gynecologic cancers. Types of cancer are difficult to treat early because the early stages usually occur almost without symptoms.

Yet there are some symptoms that need to be suspected of ovarian cancer.

In the early stages, the symptoms that arise in the form ganguan menstruation. But unlike cervical cancer can be detected with a pap smear method, then there is no way to detect ovarian cancer.

Until now, not known for certain causes of ovarian cancer. However, the factors of excessive drug use may trigger suspicion of ovarian cancer.

In addition, the use of fertility drugs in the long term is also thought to be
increase the risk of the disease. Genetic factors may also be a reference because as much as 10 percent of sufferers have a family who were also suffering from ovarian cancer.

Now, a study in the United States (U.S.) linking obesity with an increased risk of developing ovarian cancer.

The study involved more than 94,000 women aged 51 to 71 years, who were followed for more than seven years. The results of the study, as quoted by Reuters, showed that women who are obese have a higher chance for ovarian cancer.

Risk was increased among women who never make hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for menopause. Previously conducted studies linking hormone used to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer.

Among women who never did HRT, those who are overweight have a risk of 83 percent higher ovairum cancer than women with normal weight.

The discovery, reported in the journal Cancer also shows that obesity is a risk factor for ovarian cancer that can be controlled.

According to the principal investigator in the study, Dr. Michael L Leitzman of the National Cancer Institute United States (U.S.) in Bethesda, Maryland and the University of Regensburg in Germany, results. study provides one more reason for women to avoid weight gain is not healthy.

“Our data indicate that maintaining a healthy weight associated with a reduced risk of ovarian cancer development,” Leitzmann said.

Not clear why obesity has contributed to ovarian cancer, but maybe it’s related to the effects of excess body fat to levels of estrogen in the body of a woman, says Leitzmann and its partners.

The fact that the risk of ovarian cancer is dependent on the use of HRT to support this theory.

The study also found a link between obesity at age 18 years and an increased risk of ovarian cancer in older age? – An association was even stronger than the link between obesity at age further and ovarian cancer.

Weight in adolescence may be more relevant to ovarian cancer than weight at age further.

Other studies will be undertaken by scientists at the U.S. also showed that women who are obese are more susceptible to malignant ovarian cancer.

Obesity is increasing the risk of developing some types of cancer, but research revealed that fat tissue affects tumor development.

According to research published in the journal Cancer, the fat cells produce hormones or proteins to make developing ovarian cancer more rapidly.

Lead researcher Dr Andrew Li said the study involved 216 women suffering from epithelial ovarian cancer, ovarian cancers are most common, or about 90 percent of all cases.

The study compared 35 women who are obese with the 108 women who had normal weight to see significant differences in the appearance of cancer.

Apparently, obesity affects the body’s resistance. Those who are obese, cancer cells can arise again after the treatment and the risk of death.

To identify ovarian cancer, the American Cancer Society announced the results of cancer experts consensus on ovarian cancer symptoms. Symptoms include swelling in the body, pain in the abdomen and pelvis, loss of appetite, frequent urination and pain during intercourse.

Frequent urination occurs when the tumor is pressing if the rectum or bladder. Can also occur emphasis on stretching or pelvic area causing pain.

Site Dharmais Cancer hospital at an advanced stage mentioned symptoms associated with ascites (accumulation of fluid in the abdominal cavity) spread to the omentum (abdominal fat) and organs in the abdominal cavity, such as the intestine and liver. Symptoms appear, such as stomach bulge, bloating, nausea, appetite disorders, irritable bowel and urination.

If you find these symptoms, the patient should immediately see a doctor for further tests to detect ovarian cysts or enlargement.

Examination is recommended in women with high risk factors, namely women who had early first menstruation and late menopause, never or difficulty conceiving, a history of ovarian cancer in families, and women with breast cancer and colon cancer.

Ovarian cancer patients reported in Indonesia continues to increase every year.

Ovarian cancer would be much easier to heal if its existence is known in the early stages of growth.
